Armenia – Centre of European Higher Education Area

During the session of the Bologna working group held in Copenhagen, Denmark, Armenia was selected as the host country for the 2015 Ministerial Summit of the European Higher Education Area. Representatives from 47 member countries of the Bologna Process participated in the session.

Hereby, the role of the secretary of the Bologna Process for the forthcoming three years is entrusted to Armenia and Armenia becomes the capital of the European Higher Education Area. It’s worth stating, that Armenia is the only non-European Union member country to be entrusted with such an important mission. This decision reflects a serious appraisal on the successful implementation of the processes toward the internalization of the Armenian education system and education reforms.

Armenian Minister of Education and Science Mr. Armen Ashotyan had addressed a video message to the participants of the Bologna working group session the day before the session, presenting the application of the Republic of Armenia. Azerbaijan was the only country among the participants being against Armenia’s candidacy.
