MedWish International (USA)


MedWish International (USA) is a non-profit organization the primary goal of which is to recover, recycle and redistribute donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries as humanitarian aid. Globally, the MedWish International program improves the quality of medical care in developing countries, locally it is effectively reducing the amount of solid waste deposited in landfills.

For over 14 years, MedWish International through its unique Medical Supply Recovery Program has collected and distributed over 86,000 pounds of medical supplies to developing nations around the world.

Rafi Avitsian, MD, is a staff physician at Cleveland (USA) Clinic's Department of General Anesthesiology. He is also an assistant professor of anesthesiology in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Avitsian has special passion for resident education and was awarded various teaching awards including: Best Teacher of the Year, the Arthur Barnes Distinguished Teacher Award and the Distinguished Educator Award.

For years Dr. Avitsian along with other representatives of Armenian Diaspora in USA provides a continuous flow of updated medical supplies and equipment to Armenia.

More than $ 100,000 worth of medical equipment and supplies were collected by Dr. Raffi Avitsian and Serop Demirjian to be sent to Armenia for the Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR) CME Program in 2005.
